In the project contest, several circular regions within the rectangle boundary are given. A robot should cast tennis balls into all these circular regions while no part is allowed inside the boundary. The project will be ranked according to the time used, but if the time is beyond 5 minutes, the process will be cutoff, and the regions finished will be calculated as the final grade. Human auxiliary is not permitted, and all the request of the contest should be met.
Our project is aimed to cast the ball with a fixed distance and move, starting from the smallest target, along the length of the boundary. Our design will consist of three parts, the loading part, the casting part and the movement part. The tennis balls will be loaded in advance and the human control during the whole process is unnecessary. The robot will cast the ball and move by itself under rigorous calculation.
Due to the COVID-19,the project cannot be made in entity. We’ve finished the 3D model by SolidWorks and the 3D animation of the robot. Acrylic, steel and other necessary materials are used in the final design. Gear sets, two belts and two chains are used to control the transmission ratio. Rigorous calculations are done so that the working time of the motors is determined, which ensures the rotation angle of the loading mechanism, the initial velocity of tennis balls and the distance each time the robot moves along the boundary.
