Biography
Professor Timothy Gordon is a leading expert in the field of vehicle system dynamics and control, currently as the International Scientific Committee Chair of IAVSD and the Co-chair of Technical Committee on Intelligent Vehicular Systems and Control of IEEE.
Professor Gordon received his PhD (1978) and BA (1975) from the University of Cambridge in the department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. He is working as the head of School of Engineering at University of Lincoln, having spent ten years at the University of Michigan (UM) as Professor in the College of Engineering and heading the Engineering Research Division at Transportation Research Institute. His research area is vehicle dynamics and control systems, including active safety, collision avoidance and autonomous systems.
Abstract
In current automotive technology, active control is used to increase the safety and the reliability of the vehicle ride and handling. Special control systems and strategies are designed for different parts of the vehicle dynamics, especially vehicle control at the limits of friction.
