The School of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) has a history of over 100 years and is the top ranked mechanical engineering program in the country. Our mission is to educate the next generation of leaders in the field of engineering, to create new knowledge and to serve socio-economic development. 

Distinguished in their fields of expertise, our faculty members are dedicated to lifelong learning and the integration of teaching and researching. They are well recognized both at home and abroad and are recipients of various international/national awards from the government or professional societies. 

The remarkably cohesive and collaborative atmosphere of the School makes it a hub for technology innovation. The School’s research activities cover various fundamental thematic areas in mechanical engineering and other emerging research fields. We are doing our part to contribute to Made-in-China 2025 blueprint with a heavy focus on integrating lab research with industrial application. The School is also one of the nation’s top-ranking institutes of the sponsored research and produces widely acknowledged research findings.
