Biography
Jinming Zhou is a full professor of Production and Materials Engineering and Director of graduate student at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Lund University, Sweden. His research area covers high precision hard machining process, nickel-based superalloy and its high-performance machining technology, and advanced tool and tool material technology. He is currently Presidium Member of Swedish Production Academy and member of Swedish Production Committee. He has been an invited expert in the European Commission Horizon2020 program within the frame of Clean-Sky program and an oversea expert of National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Canada. In addition, he has also served as Scientific Committee member in three CIRP CSI.
Abstract
Ni-based superalloys have excellent high-temperature mechanical properties and are widely applied in aerospace, energy/power, and nuclear power etc. where extreme working conditions as high temperature and high pressure are accounted. This report will introduce the state of research activities on high-performance machining of Ni-based superalloys using advanced ceramics and polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) tool materials in combination with typical superalloy and component. The report will focus on the tool performance evaluation and analysis, and characterization of surface integrity in the high-performance machining of such alloys. Engineering and scientific issues related to industrial production of Ni-based superalloy components will also be discussed in the report.
