Recently, Professor Fei Qi from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University won the internationally-renowned Humboldt Research Award.
Professor Qi is presently a chair professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Director of the Student Innovation Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He has been dedicated to teaching and research in the field of combustion for more than two decades. He has attained a series of pioneering academic achievements, making outstanding contributions to the development of several disciplines including combustion diagnostics and combustion reaction kinetics, etc., and enjoys a worldwide high reputation. He currently serves as a Fellow of the Combustion Institute, a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the Secretary for Sectional Affairs of the Combustion Institute, and the Dupety Secretary and Standing Director of the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics. He is also the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Applications in Energy and Combustion Science, and was the Program Co-Chair of the 38th International Symposium on Combustion and an Associate Editor of the Proceedings of the Combustion Institute. He has received the State Natural Science Award (Second Prize) and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
Humboldt Research Award is a scientific research award established by the Humboldt Foundation in 1972. It is targeted at distinguished scholars outside Germany who have made outstanding achievements in their respective fields. Candidates recognized by the Humboldt Foundation must be scientists who have contributed to original theories, major discoveries or inventions and made significant impacts on the development of their research fields. This prestigious award is the top honor for foreign scholars from the Humboldt Foundation.
