On September 7th to 8th, 2023, the Project Symposium of “Key technologies and demonstration of combined cooling, heating and power generation for low-carbon neighbourhoods/ buildings with clean energy – ChiNoZEN” was successfully held in School of Mechanical Engineering. Prof. Vojislav Novakovic and his team from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).
Prof. Yanjun Dai moderated the opening of the project symposium. Prof. Yixin Zhao, Vice Dean of Division of Research Management at SJTU, Prof. Liang Guo, Deputy Director of International Affairs Division at SJTU, Prof. Zhaohui Du, Dean of School of Mechanical Engineering at SJTU, Prof. Ruzhu Wang, Director of Institute of Refrigeration and Cryogenics of School of Mechanical Engineering at SJTU and Prof. Arild Gustavsen,Dean of School of Architecture at NTNU made a welcome speech.
The project leaders, Prof. Yanjun Dai and Prof. Novakovic, introduced the progress of both sides. This symposium was the second offline exchange between the two sides after the first one held in May at NTNU.
The ChiNoZEN is a project under the common call within energy topics between the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in China and the Research Council of Norway (RCN). The project is jointly led by SJTU, with Prof. Yanjun Dai as the project leader, and the Norwegian side is led by Prof. Arild Gustavsen from NTNU. The commitment of the ChiNoZEN project is to contribute to a significant increase in the share of low-carbon buildings and neighbourhoods through cooperation between leading Chinese and Norwegian scientists. The key result is a combined cooling, heating and power generation system able to meet the needs of low-carbon communities to fully absorb nearby available renewable energy.
